Welcome to our Ulan-Ude Travelers house, a home for backpackers in center of Buryatia. The hostel is made for travelers by travelers. A bed, a shower, a kitchen, laundry service, free wifi connection, heaps of information and much more + a lot of fun ;)

We're unbeatably located in the very center of Ulan-Ude, just at the Lenin's head and Soviet square, next to president house and local parliament. It's about 5 mins walk to all tourist sights of the city - historical lower town and more modern soviet style upper town, Arbat street and Opera theater, etc. Cafes, restaurants, bars and entertaining facilities are in a couple of minutes of walk.

What we have

The hostel has 2 guest rooms, each has 8 dorms (all double bunk beds).

Guest kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a stove, a fridge and all utensils.

We have a shower and a toilet room. Bed sheets and towels are included.

Large common room has a nice sofa, information desk, tvset, some games and just fun stuff.

Washing machine is at your service for a fee (detergent included).

Directions to Ulan-Ude Travelers House:

Please read it carefully, write it down if possible Basically it's pretty easy to find it, you need to find Soviet square and Lenin's head. Lonely Planet 2009 guide book lists our building on the Ulan-Ude map as "S7 Airlines". We're on the map of LP 2012.

From the Lenin's head

I use two keywords for our directions - "HEAD LEFT". When you stand in front of Lenin's head looking at it, turn left, look for a 4 storey light yellow building with a big sign 'S7 airlines' on the top. The hostel is on the right side of the building, a black door right to 'S7 airlines' office. Press 18 and 'B' on terminal and wait for us to let you in. We're on the second floor, right door.

Walk from the train station:

When you get off your train at Ulan Ude station have a look around, look for the tallest building with an interesting roof (it even blinks red at nighttime) which is on the opposite side from the train station. Got it? ;) Follow a small pedestrian bridge over the railways. You'll see crossroads with a statue of 'the boy with the eagle in his hand' in the middle. Head left, take Borsoeva str. (улица Борсоева or yj.6opcoeBa) and walk along road for about 10 mins. Walk until you see a rather big road/street to the right, Sukhe-Batora str. (ул. Сухэ-Батора or uj.Cyxe-6aTopa). Take it and you'll see Soviet square, Lenin's head and a few government buildings with flags. Look for a 4 storey lightyellow building with a big sign 'S7 airlines' on the top. The hostel is on right hand side of the building, a black door right to 'S7 airlines' office. Press 18 and 'B' on terminal and wait for us to let you in. We're on the second floor, right door.

Map-directions "How to get to the hostel from the train station"

Bus from the train station:

Basically it's better to follow the locals, majority of them usually go to a bus stop which is in front of the train station and little bit upside. Take a marshrutka (=a public minibus) no.36, you need the second stop is Soviet Square or "Ploshad Sovetov". This is relatively big square with monument of Lenin's head in the center. Mind that marshrutkas stop only on demand when a driver sees somebody waving on stops or somebody inside telling him to stop. It's 14 roubles for a ride per person, pay at entrance. Look for a 4 storey lightyellow building with a big sign 'S7 airlines' on the top. The hostel is on right hand side of the building, a black door between S7 airlines and "Vintage" cloth shop. Press 18 and 'B' on terminal and wait for me or my friend to let you in. We're on the second floor, right door.
